Gun shots have been ringing out in the Village and some strange looking men are in the streets of Old Bedford Village. We have heard that numerous stage coaches have been held up throughout the area. Come and join us on 26-27 June to learn about how the West was won (or lost.)

Old Bedford Village has launched a $1M Infrastructure Project and is turning the Old in for the New. We have become an affiliate with www.gazelle.com to help raise funds to rehab many of our structures. Our 200+ old structures are in constant need of maintenance.

With the help of our friends, we can help you clear out some of the old in your home and bring in the new revitalization of our living history museum. The Yanks pushed the Confederates southward on 19 Jul

It was a fierce battle on the banks of the Juniata. The Confederates tried to take Old Bedford Village, but the Yanks pushed them back towards the village of Bedford. It was a hot day in the 90's with almost as much humidity, so if soldiers didn't drop from bullets, they dropped from the heat.

The Yanks are Coming and the Confederates have crossed the Mason-Dixon Line

As of today, we see some strange fellows arriving at Old Bedford Village. A few tents are being pitched in the fields along the Juniata River. Not sure if they are from the North or South, but they are stirring interest in Bedford PA Seems like they could be a little bit of a lazy bunch. Maybe it is these hot northern days.

What a way to kick off the new Season!!!!!

Our Executive Director Roger Kirwin hosted 20 minute tours of OBV and

some of our Loyal Reenactors were available throughout to greet our many guests.

We made some old and new friends

(even as far away as Germany, France and Brazil)

$1M Infrastructure Project Underway

Old Bedford Village has launched $1M infrastructure project and fundraiser to rehab the buildings on-site. After 34 years, some of the old buildings need major repairs of the roofs, logs, chinking, water and electric.

Thanks to some of our wonderful reenactors volunteering their time, a few buildings saw the first of the rehab project undertaken. With limited funds, it is wonderful to have volunteers assist in the project. A Big Thanks to all of them.

Old Bedford Village is still in need of funds to go forward. Please go to our website at www.oldbedfordvillage.com and consider a donation to assist Old Bedford Village with this venture.We have such a wonderful asset, it would be terrible to loose it because needed maintenance could not be complete.

Hands-on School Program

There are not many dates left to plan a hands-on field trip. This is a wonderful way to teach students first hand about history. Call 814-623-1156 and have your program tailored to meet the needs of your students. Old Bedford Village offers this same program to the Scouts or other youth groups throughout the summer. Old Bedford Village is getting ready to kick off the 2010 season on Memorial Day Weekend. Come and experience history from the 1750's to 1900 as you walk through time. Interact with with interpreters and learn crafts of the time period. Stop by the Pendergrass Tavern and have a bowl of homemade soup and specialties.
